Welcome to Team Tig Bitties!
My name is Sandy Boyd, and I kicked breast cancer's ass. It's been 2 years since I was first diagnoised, and not a day goes by without counting my blessings. Because the cancer had a genetic link, I decided to undergo a bilateral mastectomy with reconstructive surgery. Also due to the same genetic link, I was at high risk for ovarian cancer. So good-bye, ovaries. Within 2 months time, I underwent multiple surgies. The recovery was slow and emotional. The best way to descibe my everyday was "crisis-mode". Thank you for those who showed up, sent food/gifts/messages, provided rides, washed my hair, changed bandages, and just checked in. I felt the love and will forever remember your kindness. Today I am celebrating 2 years being cancer free!
I truly believe I am here because I can make a difference. My friends and I are joining the Georgia 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. We did it last year and we are back for more. The money raised by the Georgia 2-Day Walk stays right here in Georgia to support breast health and breast cancer programs throughout the state- what's raised in Georgia stays in Georgia.
For me, the fight is over, and I've survived. For many others, it's just the beginning or they are in "crisis-mode" at this moment. Keri, Zany, Abbie, Jessica, Sara, Alanna, and I are walking to celebrate with those who have survived and walking for those who are unable to walk. Please consider donating to Team Tig Bitties! Please message me directly if you rather donate a check or cash. Thank you very much!
